Position Overview
They are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to join their NYC office in a hybrid role (2-3 days in the office per week). In this position, the focus will be on developing a pipeline of Small-to-Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Corporate clients (such as import/export businesses and multinational corporations) to achieve new business revenue goals. The primary objective will be to help partners enhance and manage their international payment services and hedging requirements, with a strong emphasis on expanding their customer base.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Business Development Manager, the candidate will:
• Prospect for New Business:Â Identify and engage potential clients in the SME and Corporate sectors through proactive outreach, networking at industry events, and managing leads through the sales process to meet specific targets at each stage.
• Targeted Outreach:Â Tailor prospecting efforts based on geographic regions and industry specialties, focusing on SMEs and Corporate clients.
• Industry Expertise:Â Maintain and deepen knowledge in specific industries or regions to become a subject matter expert.
• Collaborate Internally:Â Work closely with internal teams to deliver customized solutions that address client challenges and effectively communicate how their products can meet client needs.
• Market Awareness:Â Stay informed about the foreign exchange (FX) market, compliance, and legislative requirements to better anticipate client needs.
• Close Sales:Â Leverage internal relationship teams and management to successfully close sales opportunities.
• Build Partnerships:Â Identify and cultivate key referral partnerships with organizations and advisors related to prospective clients.
• Account Management:Â Beyond acquiring new business, manage the transition of new customers to their dealing desk.
Ideal Qualifications
• B2B Sales Experience:Â Minimum of 4 years in sales, ideally with exposure to the FX or payments industry. Candidates from the broader financial services sector may also be considered.
• Consultative Sales Skills:Â Strong understanding of consultative sales techniques and experience in executive-level negotiations and relationship-building.
• Self-Motivated:Â A proactive approach to business development, able to work independently while collaborating with internal account managers.
• Established Networks:Â Existing connections in regional markets, industry sectors, and among customer influencers, including consultants and accountants.
• Integrity and Tenacity:Â Highly motivated and confident, with a strong drive to outperform competitors.
• Team Player:Â Contribute positively to a diverse team environment and embrace inclusivity.
• Communication Skills:Â Fluent in English with excellent communication and presentation abilities across various platforms; proficient in technology (e.g., MS Office, web conferencing, search engines, reporting tools, and sales automation tools like Salesforce).
• Financial Acumen:Â Understand business needs and the commercial impact of global events.
• Educational Background:Â A degree is preferred, or significant professional experience in relevant fields.
